Another fun flag football game

Well, Loegan's team didn't win on Saturday, but, he had such a fun time!!! Here's a pic of when they gave him the ball.
The boys and the coaches are so kind and loving and help him so much. I am so thankful to them for all of their work!! It has been such a wonderful experience. I think we have 3 or 4 more games left.

Even Big Kids Say Cute Things.

Yesterday, Loegan said something really cute. It didn't dawn on me how cute it was until last night. He said, "Mom, my tooth is having growing pains." (It's one of his back teeth that are coming in.) At the time, I was just thinking about how I could help him feel better.

Flag Football

Loegan had his first flag football game last Saturday. He did a great job for his first time playing football. Our church organized a league. There are 4 junior teams and 4 senior teams. Loegan is one of a handful of boys who have never played before. They spread the unexperieced boys into the different teams. So, Loegan was surrounded by boys his age (most of them a little older) who were very kind and very helpful. It was really sweet to see the other boys putting their arm around Loegan on the field and helping him out. Loegan really loved it. He did good. They even gave him the ball a few times. Malia had fun playing in the sand and playing with her friends. If anyone wants to come to a game, they're on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am at the park on the south side of Houston between Cooper and Gilbert. Loegan is on the white team. Look for the group younger kids with white shirts (there's a white team for juniors and seniors).

Red, Black, and Blue

Well, we're almost patriotic. Instead of Red, White, and Blue, we're Red, Black, and Blue.

On Saturday we went swimming. Some forgetful Mom who is very, very fair skinned forgot sunscreen for her and her 2 kids (who didn't inherit their Dad's nice, dark skin).

Then, this same Mom took her kids to Skateland last night and all 3 of them are bruised from head to toe. Well, mostly from hip to toe.

So, if you see us in the next few days, please don't question my parenting. We had so much fun getting our sunburns and our bruises. But, we are really feeling it this morning.

Roller Skating Fun!

Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've put on a pair of roller skates. Tonight, we went to Skateland. A few weeks ago I found out that Skateland does "Christian night" on Monday nights from 6pm to 8pm with free admission and they play all Christian music! You only have to pay to rent the skates, unless you have your own. Tonight was the first Monday night that I've been off in a few weeks, so, tonight was the night. We had a really fun time!! Loegan and Malia took their rollerblades (that they've never really used, until today). Loegan caught on pretty quickly. Malia struggled with her rollerblades for about an hour, then decided she wanted to try roller skates. She still struggled, but, liked the skates better. Anyway, it was pretty fun. This is the only picture that turned out halfway decent. I took this after they had big drinks of water (Skating is thirsty work!!).

Last Friday, we went to a Back-to-School event hosted by East Valley Christian Home Educators. The kids had so much fun playing in the game room with LOTS of kids and lots of games, etc. I was in another room learning lots about EVCHE and other home schooling info. It was great. I also learned about some things that we all should be involved in. First of all, we all need to support Prop. 102 which is the marriage ammendment. They are trying to put the definition of marriage of one man and one woman into the constitution. Back when the constitution was written this definition was a given and anything else was unheard of. Now, we see what's happened in California. Go to http://www.yesformarriage.com/ for more info. The other thing we need to be involved in is supporting Parental Rights. In the past, just like with marriage, parents' rights haven't been questioned. Meaning, parents are responsible for their children, and how they're raised. In the future these rights will more than likely be seriously questioned (and in some cases, they already have). In many countries, they've already taken the slogan, "It takes a village to raise a child," meaning that parents are not necessarily responsible for the raising of their children, the whole community is. This would take away a parent's ability to make decisions on how their child is raised. Scary, huh? Well, just look at how over the years, people have started thinking differently about marriage and other issues that have changed over the past 30 or so years. Go to http://www.parentalrights.org/ and sign the petition to get this made into an ammendment in the U.S. Constitution. Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.

About last Friday's Journal Blogging, last week was so crazy with Loegan being in Payson and Malia's video shoots, etc. that we decided to skip it for a week.

School is going great. This will be our first, normal, full week. So far, things are going good. Actually, GREAT! It really makes such a huge difference on how smoothly things go when the gospel is the main focus! God has been so amazing and so faithful every step of the way!

Auditions and School

So, before we even got home yesterday from Malia's filming project, her talent agent called me about an audition that's today. So, they say that the busy season has begun. I really fight my feelings on this whole modeling thing. She loves it and it'll be really nice to have a college fund for her saved up. But, I struggle with this because I don't want her focus to be on how she looks and acts, but, that she needs to be focused on her heart. She really is not conceited at all, I just don't want that to become a problem. Plus, the industry itself can be very wordly and negative. I've put the whole situation in God's hands. I will not push it at all. If He wants something to come of the modeling contract, then Great, if not, Great. That has been my approach to this over the past few years. We'll see what happens.

I saw this great video that was on the news. The reporter is a Christian home-schooling mom. Anyway, gotta go now. I need to finish school with Malia so we can get ready for her audition. Have an amazing day!!

A real movie star

Malia is an official movie star. The past few days, she's been filmed for some movies for Pearson Education. They're little movies that will be shown to kids in grades K through 5th grade in classrooms all over the nation. She REALLY loved it. She had several different scenes that she was in and she did a really good job! Silly me, I didn't even think of taking any pictures. I'm not sure they would have been too happy though with me taking pics. The shoot was held at a really nice home in north Scottsdale. Malia's role was a girl named Chloe. She did about 8 different scenes over 2 days and the pay is really good! (She won't get paid for about 2 months though.) Loegan had a fun time at the Stapleton's house yesterday and even got to go see some baby goats that were a week old. Then, last night Grandpa came and picked him up and took him to Payson. I'm sure he's having a blast there. Well, that's what we've been up to. Have a great day everyone!!
